This web site was developed by members of the community of Leimert Park in Los Angeles to share our story, the beauty, unique character and challenges we face in preserving and building on the assets that make Leimert Park a place of pride. The web site is designed to provide residents and supporters access to information in order to take an active role in shaping the future of the community. It attempts to shed light on the various public and private redevelopment and planning activities underway that if unchecked, would permanently alter the character of the community.

    Leimert Park represents a living legacy as generation upon generation of Black families frequent, work and dwell in the neighborhood which is known for its artistic and cultural contributions to the African American landscape of Los Angeles. Leimert Park’s Village is unlike any other area in southern California. This one patch of land in Los Angeles generates a comprehensive sense of community among Black Angelinos because it is the only one of its kind.
